Lately I have made some videos of the productions with the 3D Pen. The IUOMA logo concepts and the Fluxus Words are two samples that are now ready including the box:
I made this special box from Blue and Green ABS in which I now hold the 4 IUOMA logos I made with the 3D pen as well. Al kind of colours and versions for a basic idea of a logo with the 5 letters IUOMA. Will be handy for the next workshops with the 3D pen I will be giving.
The logo’s are made with PLA plastics. You don’t see the difference, but ABS-plastics is harder and needs a higher temperature to make.
On April 24th 2016 I made this new IUOMA logo with a 3D pen using PLA plastics (White, grey, black and brown). An experiment to see if you can construct any logo you want and have the object instantly in your hands.
On the backside of the object you can see the structure created with the white PLA which was the basis for the logo. I signed it with IUOMA 2016 which goes easy as well. On a brown wooden background the logo looks like this:
As you can see the plastic of a 3D pen gives an unique structure like the brush with paint. I personally like what ou can do with such a 3D pen and plan to make more objects. The time it too to make this object was about one hour.
In 2 weeks I will be doing two workshops on the use of the 3D pen for two groups of teachers at a college. They will be guided into the possibilities of using the new tool in their education, but it could also be fun. I made the letter A with black PLA plastic, and the golden cage was made lateron as a cube surrounding the letter A.
I used a MyRywell Expert pen which can use both PLA and ABS plastics. In the course I will use this pen as well for the teachers to use and test.
Since next month I will be doing a workshop with 3D pens for teachers, I am testing the possibilities first with standard objects. Going real D takes more time, but I will do that in the coming weeks for sure. Writing letters will be a first assignment for the students…..
I will explain them a bit of my work inside the Mail-Art network as well……
In 2 months I will be doing two workshops for teachers that work at a college. I will sow them the ways to use a 3D pen and also let them think on how to use it with their students. For the occasion I will have access to lots of 3D pens, so it will be interesting to see how that goes.
For my art I am testing a few things. This afternoon I made some letters with the 3D pen that have become objects. I placed them on a scanner to make an color-copy of the letters. On that result I put again the original letters and took a digital photo of that on my working table. Next step is to put that image on some places online, like Facebook, IUOMA Network and some ‘pataphiscal platforms, and now also on this www.iuoma.org website.
So from idea to plastic to a color-copy into a digital photo and now going into that digital worlds. Multimedia for sure.
At the workshops I will probably let the teachers first make a letter of their choice to let them test the 3D pens and to see if they get the idea. We will collect the letters and will try to make a word of it that guides them into the next assignment. It will be an interactive workshop for sure.
Maybe they should make a cup to to put the letters in:
