Brain Cell #1000 from Ryosuke Cohen – Japan

Today a large enveloppe from Ryosuke Cohen (Japan) arrived. In it was the collection of BrainCells #980 till #1000 and with it all namelists of those series. I received before from Ryosuke Cohen such sets. They are very interesting for archives and reearchers, so I am very happy with this wonderful gift from Ryosuke Cohen. He did a wonderful work with this project he started in 1985, and in 2017 the series is alreacy 1000 sheets with messages from the globe.

On the cover is a part of the #1000 Brain Cell. I recognize the stamp prints I sent him, and it feels good to be part of this collection. But the whole project itself is more interesting then the individual cells. So many connections and communications were needed to get this done. Also interesting details on how this started in 1985. Some mail-artists are still alive and kicking. Some are dead and some countries even vanished from the postal systems…….

And the formal 1000th issue arrived a few days later in a seperate enveloppe:

Traditional Mail Art Catalogs – They still exist!

In 2017 I got these catalogs of Mail-Art project in the mail. Above a project done by the Stickerdude (Joel Cohen) in NY – USA, and below two catalogs that Uli Grohmann (Germany) did. Although a lot goes digital thee days, the hardcopies are still my favorites. You can go through the pages, and digitize them, but the booklet will survive the times for sure whuile the digital images go into the websiotes and social media and somehow are difficult to find after some time…..
