New IUOMA membership Cards 2016-2017

Soon the new cards will be ready and will be sent out. The order went out just now. This blogposting is the only posting about the cards I will be doing, so eventually we will see what the sending out of the cards will bring.

There is a long history about the membership cards for IUOMA. It started back in 1988 and not every year a card was produced. Also designs from others were used sometimes, and in a special group:

http://iuoma-network.ning.com/group/iuomamembershipcards

I even try others to make designs too, but not always succesfull. Anyhow….. A new card is in the making, and the cards are for 2016-2017 and will soon hit the network. Some will collect the cards for sure, and these will become historical time marks for the future of the IUOMA. Too much is going on digitally, but what will last is the hardcopies and lots of digital information scattered in the cloud.

By the way; it will be funny when someone reacts for the first time about the English and Dutch variation of the word Ship and Schip.  The dutch word Schip means boat, and the cards are sailing into the world. Also the c filts well for the word CHIP, since we are doing so much online these days.

Fluxus Words / New words

2016-03-12 09.18.26 2016-03-12 09.18.41 2016-03-12 09.18.54 2016-03-12 09.19.12

Four new Fluxus words were painted on envelopes. They are now sent out to some active mail/artists, so they will find the word quite soon. If they don´t know what to do with it, they could visit:

http://fluxuswords.blogspot.nl/

Because that is a blog I made to give people an overview of the Fluxus Words Score, and the results that it has brought so far.

The OLD IUOMA website

For people doing research, please notice that the old IUOMA website is still available. I started the website in 1996 when the HTTP protocols first were used to make the WWW websites.  It grew from there and was completely typed by hand.

Because maintaining that old structure because too time consuming and also I didn’t wantbto throw away the old building, it is still there through:

http://www.iuoma.org/index.html

Just try it…..  The new www.iuoma.org website is build around that old website because I use a trick. The old website was done with direct addressing, and the new website is done with relative addressing based on a new link to the root. This works out just fine leaving two websites alive where I can go from the old one to the new one without any problem.

Also historically it is interesting. The old website gives the feeling of how that old programming went. The new one is a blog with all the advantages given by WordPress in maintaining such a website.

For more historic information you should visit:

http://www.archive.org

Ans look for the old URL address of the starting periode:

http://www.geocities.com/Paris/4947

It brings you back in those old years of building websites and you can actually look back on the structure there were back in the 90-ies.

Check any of the old versions of the website, and see and read all that was published decades ago. Funny how the Wayback machine has captured all these old Geocities websites as a timemark for the new world to research

And remember, before the WWW-years I used the BBS-structures that made information available through the digital channels as well. Charles Francois (Belgium) documented the structure quite well:

New drawings by Ruud Janssen – Feb 2016

SCAN1403 SCAN1422

And suddenly there is the time to make a series of new drawings that fit in the theme digital Humans and analog machines. Where the human race is building all these digital connections but forget that we are analog beings.

SCAN1423 SCAN1424

You can click on the individual drawings and see a larger sample of the drawing. They are all made on thick paper, size A4 (european standard). I use indian ink (from Talens) and russian watercolours (Petersburg), which mix very well together.

SCAN1425 SCAN1426

I also have a digital portfolio of my works where you can get a broader overview of my work:

www.ArtWanted.com/iuoma

As you can see I am very focussed on the digital connetions and what humans want to do. I feel I am in the middle. I work with the traditional tools in writing and drawing, and for a living I train students to implement the newest digital possibilities and make a living out of that.

Hope you enjoy the drawing.

Mail from Mike Dyar – USA

Last week an interesting parcel from Mike Dyar arrived with in it an object that deserves some attention.

2015-11-14 09.06.27

The backside of the parcel receils some details already. A.M. Fine and Ray Johnson, and Mike himself looking for the next question. The mail-interview with Mike Dyar (see on this blog at:

http://iuoma.org/blog_new_2015/2015/06/22/mail-interview-with-mike-dyar-usa/

Was never finished and published when I ended the project.

2015-11-14 09.06.34

Above the front cover of the parcel. Typical style of Mike, and I am off course curious on what the content will be,

2015-11-14 09.06.40 2015-11-14 09.06.52 2015-11-14 09.07.01

Inside an object carefully wrapen with a paper that reads: CLEVERNESS – “Don’t you think Mr. Ray E. Johnson would enjoy a perfect vacation,  through the end of this Cosmic Epoch ? “- A.M. Fine

2015-11-14 09.07.14 2015-11-14 09.07.20

Mike also wondered as to what the next question was. Since he is not on Internet, I will print out that question and will thank him for the sending. Also the backside reveils an explenation to this object and that reveals the story behind this.

2015-11-14 09.07.25 2015-11-14 09.07.35

Thank you Mike Dyar. Always a pleasure to receive your deep thoughts and generosity.

Outgoing to Ryosuke Cohen – Japan

2015-09-06 08.36.00

During the last month August 2015 I received 3 more Braincells from Ryosuke Cohen with the numbers 920, 921 and 922.  The process of his gigantic project goes quickly. In a few years he will reach number 1000. That is why I keep sending him envelopes to keep track of the process and to support his project

2015-09-06 08.36.03

for more details about the project visit the special group on IUOMA at NING:

http://iuoma-network.ning.com/group/brain-cell-ryosuke-cohen-compilation

You can find there lots of samples of Braincells published by receivers, and normally also the lastest one that came up in the network. Already saw number 923 when looking there!

Mail from Richard Canard – USA

2015-07-08 14.31.00

“I’m inclined to doubt there is a formula for creating a successful postcard… that sort of thing just happens”.  Another statement from Richard Canard. What else to do then say he is right. That way the observer should judge what kind of card this is……

2015-07-08 14.31.06

I made a ‘fan of Richard C.’ group on IUOMA at NING, where also others publish the card they receive from Richard C. Have a look yourself, of when you receive mail from him, please share it there:
