A in a Cube

2016-03-14 13.32.52

In 2 weeks I will be doing two workshops on the use of the 3D pen for two groups of teachers at a college. They will be guided into the possibilities of using the new tool in their education, but it could also be fun. I made the letter A with black PLA plastic, and the golden cage was made lateron as a cube surrounding the letter A.

I used a MyRywell Expert pen which can use both PLA and ABS plastics. In the course I will use this pen as well for the teachers to use and test.

Drawing A Drawing

SCAN1499

In the series “Analog humans Digital Computers, I made a new drawing today that deals with the digital making of drawings. I work with the traditional indian ink and Peterburg water colours, and yet use a scanner to publish the drawings on Internet. Why not go digital all the way?

Well, I must confess I just lake paper, and working with that ink and paint. Also I like it that the indian ink leaces a structure on the paper and that it glances when the lighht shines on it. That vanishes when I scan it and place it on internet. Bits and Bytes are not the same as the analog stuff.

And suddenly there is the time to make a series of new drawings that fit in the theme digital Humans and analog machines. Where the human race is building all these digital connections but forget that we are analog beings.

You can click on the individual drawings and see a larger sample of the drawing. They are all made on thick paper, size A4 (european standard). I use indian ink (from Talens) and russian watercolours (Petersburg), which mix very well together.

I also have a digital portfolio of my works where you can get a broader overview of my work:

As you can see I am very focussed on the digital connetions and what humans want to do. I feel I am in the middle. I work with the traditional tools in writing and drawing, and for a living I train students to implement the newest digital possibilities and make a living out of that.

Hope you enjoy the drawing.

Letter to Miss Noma

Another envelope made for Miss Noma. This time I used the typewriter to write a letter. Also made the change into Mrs. Noma. Will be curious to see the reaction to such a type. As promissed I won’t reveil the address in Liverpool.

On the IUOMA network indeed people are wondering who Miss Noma is since she (or he) has the informations of an oldtime insider of the network. So it must be someone we all know and still uses a new name to keep us off-track.

Multimedia in progress

In 2 months I will be doing two workshops for teachers that work at a college. I will sow them the ways to use a 3D pen and also let them think on how to use it with their students. For the occasion I will have access to lots of 3D pens, so it will be interesting to see how that goes.

For my art I am testing a few things. This afternoon I made some letters with the 3D pen that have become objects. I placed them on a scanner to make an color-copy of the letters. On that result I put again the original letters and took a digital photo of that on my working table. Next step is to put that image on some places online, like Facebook, IUOMA Network and some ‘pataphiscal platforms, and now also on this www.iuoma.org website.

So from idea to plastic to a color-copy into a digital photo and now going into that digital worlds. Multimedia for sure.

At the workshops I will probably let the teachers first make a letter of their choice to let them test the 3D pens and to see if they get the idea.
